My Favorite Valentines Projects Past

I am in LOVE with all the cute Valentines decor I am seeing out here in blog land.  You ladies have my heart with all of your sweet touches of red, hearts and roses everywhere all over your homes.  I don’t think I’ll be putting out too much this year as I have done in the past.

I’d like to share a few of my own favorite creations from 2011.

This by far was my most all time favorite!
It was so easy.  I simply put cling on hearts from the dollar tree to my glass block that is filled with lights….

…added some decorative ribbon and I was done!  I really LOVED this one so much!

Here’s when I first bought the little clock I showed you in my recent post.  The cherubs were older collected pieces. Aren’t they sweet?

I jazzed up some pink Mercury glass Christmas trees to become Valentine trees.

and made a garland for my mantle using graphics from The graphic fairy with paper pink heart doilies.  You can also see the original post for this decor HERE.

And finally in 2012 I painted hearts on a table runner from the dollar tree for a tablescape.  Not to bad, huh?  Speaking of Tablescapes, I will try and share my previous Valentines tablescapes with you later.  They are some of my favorites too.

As I said, I really don’t think I’ll be doing much this year but you just never know.  I say that and then I start looking at what you all are doing and I’m get so inspired.
I hope I have shared a little inspiration with you today as well.

  That is why I have decided to join;

  1. These are all so sweet, Mary. I did something similar with my glass block that I had used and decorated for Christmas with snowflakes. I kept most of the snowflakes and simply added some Valentines –talk about easy!

  2. Mary, I really enjoyed seeing all your past Valentines Day decorations! We must have been in FL when you posted them, since they are all new to me. LOVE your glass block with the ♥'s! Someone made one for me with a Christmas theme…I wonder if I can flip it around to repurpose for V'day? Hmmm.

To answer your question about embroidery machines, I would strongly advise you go to a reputable dealer who is NEAR you. Don't buy online…you will have no assistance or recourse & convenient service is very important. I take mine in for cleaning every year, too.
All of the big name brands are good. Brother & Babylock are made by the same company & they are the easiest to learn to use, IMO. Be sure to buy one with the biggest hoop you can afford. I started out with just 4×4 & 5×7 & quickly outgrew those sizes. My new Quattro2 that I got for Christmas, goes up to 7.9×14. With the bigger sizes, you won't have to rehoop many things, which can be tricky.
Also, don't be fooled into buying a used one that doesn't take a USB stick (thumb drive) for transferring designs. The older models needed either a floppy disc or a special card to get the designs from your computer to the machine. Now, I can connect my laptop directly to my machine for easy of capture.

I would also recommend that you join SewForum …that is where I learned the most. There is a wealth of information on their site & you can post any question & get some great help.

Email me via my blog if you have any other questions. I'll be glad to help if I can. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have my sewing to keep me sane some days! It is truly my therapy.

    Hugs,
    Rett
